A watch is a timepiece worn on a person and in addition to the time, some of the modern watches also display the day, date, month and year as well, and some watches have many other functions like heart rates monitor, compass or phone as well.

Most cheap and medium-priced watches are electronic watches with quartz movements, while the expensive, designer or collectible watches are valued more for their aesthetic appeal and workmanship than for simple timekeeping purposes. They often have purely mechanical movements, powered by springs.
